Cookie Scans
The Scans section shows results from automated cookie scanning, helping you identify and classify cookies on your sites.
How scanning works
The CMP scanner:
- Visits your site in a headless browser
- Captures all cookies set during the session
- Classifies each cookie by purpose and vendor
- Generates a report with recommendations
Viewing scan results
Navigate to Scans to see:
- Latest scan: Most recent scan results
- Scan history: Previous scans for trend analysis
- Scheduled scans: Upcoming automated scans
Scan details
Each scan report includes:

Classification status
- Classified: Cookie matched in our database
- Unknown: Cookie requires manual classification
- Flagged: Cookie may violate consent requirements

- Cookies set before consent
- Missing cookie policy disclosures
- Category mismatches
Running a manual scan
- Go to Scans
- Click New Scan
- Enter the URL to scan
- Select scan options:
- Depth: Single page or full site crawl
- Consent state: Scan with/without consent
- Browser: Chrome, Firefox, or Safari
- Click Start Scan
Scans typically complete in 1-5 minutes depending on site size.
Scheduled scans
Set up recurring scans:
- Go to Scans → Schedule
- Click Add Schedule
- Configure:
- Frequency: Daily, weekly, or monthly
- URL: Starting URL for the scan
- Notifications: Email alerts for findings
Classifying unknown cookies
When a cookie is marked as unknown:
- Click the cookie name
- Review the cookie details (value pattern, duration, vendor)
- Select the appropriate category
- Click Save Classification
Your classification is saved and applied to future scans.
Exporting scan results
Export scan results as:
- CSV: For spreadsheet analysis
- JSON: For integration with other tools
- PDF: For compliance documentation
